Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 September 2026
Mods Software respects your privacy and aims to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide, secure and improve our products and services. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when you use Mods Software websites, applications and services, including Agentic Mods, Woodshed Groove and other products that link to this Policy.
1. Who we are
Mods Software designs and operates software products, online tools and websites.
Our portfolios include Agentic Mods, which focuses on developer and AI-related tools, and Woodshed Groove, which provides tools for musicians.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Mods Software is the controller of personal information where we determine why and how that information is processed.
Our full business and contact details are provided at the end of this Policy.
2. Information we may collect
The information we collect depends upon which services you use.
Information you provide may include your name, email address, account information, information submitted through contact forms, communications with us, newsletter preferences, orders and transaction information, support information, and files or other information you choose to submit to a service.
Technical information may include IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages or features used, approximate geographic information derived from an IP address, timestamps, diagnostic information, application errors, and security and server logs.
Usage and analytics information may include pages viewed, features used, session information, application events, product interactions, performance information and aggregated usage statistics.
3. Information processed by our tools
Some Mods Software products process information that you deliberately submit to them.
For example, a document-processing service may temporarily process an uploaded document in order to convert or analyse it. A music application may process settings and interactions required to provide practice functionality.
We use information submitted to a tool for the purpose of providing that functionality and for other purposes clearly described when you use the service.
Where practical, we design our services to minimise unnecessary collection and retention of submitted content. Individual products may provide additional information explaining how their particular processing works.
4. How we use personal information
We may use personal information to provide our websites, applications and services; create and manage accounts; process purchases and subscriptions; provide customer support; respond to enquiries; maintain and improve our products; diagnose faults; understand how our products are used; protect our systems and users; prevent fraud and abuse; send service-related communications; send marketing communications where permitted; maintain appropriate business and financial records; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful basis for processing personal information.
Depending upon the circumstances, we may rely upon contract, where processing is necessary to provide a product or service you have requested or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract; legitimate interests, where processing is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, understand or improve our business and services and those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests; consent, where you have chosen to give us permission; or legal obligation, where processing is necessary for us to comply with the law.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
6. Analytics
We may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand how our websites and applications are used and to improve their design, reliability and functionality.
Our services may collect information about product usage, such as pages viewed, features used, application events, session information and technical information about the operation of the service.
Where we use PostHog, our current implementation does not use analytics cookies. We configure analytics according to the requirements of the individual Mods Software product and aim to minimise the collection of information that is not necessary for understanding and improving our services.
We do not use analytics information to sell personal information or for third-party advertising.
If we introduce analytics cookies or other technologies that require consent, we will provide the appropriate information and obtain consent before those technologies are used.
7. Email and communications
If you subscribe to a newsletter or other marketing communication, we may use your contact details to send the communications you requested.
You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe facility provided or by contacting us.
We may separately send operational communications necessary for a service you use, such as security notices, account information, purchase confirmations or significant service changes.
8. Payments
Where we offer paid products, payment processing may be provided by specialist third-party payment providers.
We generally do not need to receive or store your complete payment-card details where payments are handled directly by a payment provider.
The payment provider will process information according to its own privacy terms as well as any arrangements it has with us.
9. Service providers
We use third parties where reasonably necessary to operate our business and services. These may include providers of cloud hosting and infrastructure, email delivery, payment processing, analytics, authentication, customer support, error monitoring, security, AI and machine-learning services, and other technical infrastructure.
We provide service providers only with information reasonably necessary for their role and put appropriate arrangements in place where required by data protection law.
10. AI services
Some Mods Software products may use artificial intelligence services supplied by Mods Software or third-party AI providers.
Where information you submit is sent to an external AI provider, we will aim to make this clear in the relevant product or feature.
We will not intentionally use private content submitted to our services to train our own general-purpose AI models unless we clearly tell you and establish an appropriate lawful basis before doing so.
Third-party AI providers may process information according to the contractual and privacy arrangements applicable to the service we use.
11. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take appropriate steps required by applicable data protection law to protect that information. These may include reliance upon recognised adequacy arrangements or appropriate contractual safeguards.
12. How long we keep information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, accounting, security and operational requirements.
Retention periods vary according to the type of information. Account information may be retained while an account remains active, financial records may need to be retained for legally required periods, and security logs may be retained for shorter periods appropriate to their purpose.
Information submitted temporarily for processing may have significantly shorter retention periods. Where a particular service has a specific retention period, we will provide that information in the service or associated documentation.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss.
No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, but security and responsible data handling form part of how we design and operate our services.
14. Your rights
Depending upon the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights concerning your personal information.
These can include the right to obtain information about how your data is used; request access to your personal data; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion in certain circumstances; request restriction of processing; object to certain processing; receive certain information in a portable format; and withdraw consent where processing is based upon consent.
These rights are subject to conditions and exceptions under applicable law. You can contact us to exercise your rights.
15. Complaints
If you have concerns about how we use your personal information, please contact us first so that we have an opportunity to investigate.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
16. Children
Our general websites and services are not specifically directed at children unless a particular product expressly states otherwise.
If we introduce a service specifically intended for children, we will provide appropriate privacy information and safeguards for that service.
17. Cookies and similar technologies
Our websites and applications may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies.
Some are necessary for a service to operate. Others may require your consent.
18. External websites
Our websites may contain links to websites operated by other organisations.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites or services that we do not control.
19. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our products, business practices or legal requirements change.
The latest version will be published on our website and the date at the top of the Policy will be updated.
Where a change materially affects how we use existing personal information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
